Four real pieces of the course for nurses and doctors. Do them now, see your score and the explanations, and decide if the full course is right for you.

The key to passing OET

OET is not a medical exam. It tests whether you communicate the way the examiners are trained to reward. While you try these samples, notice what is being tested: the exact words you hear in Listening, what the text says in Reading (not what you know), and how you talk to the patient in Speaking.

Listening Part A

Two consultations. Listen and complete the health professional's notes with the exact words you hear, like the real test. About 12 minutes. Use headphones, and Chrome or Edge.

Reading Part B

Six short workplace texts (policies, guidelines, emails), one question each. Find the main point or purpose of each text. About 10 minutes.

Skill drill: from medical jargon to plain language

Patients do not understand "hypertension" or "nil by mouth". Practise turning medical terms into words a patient understands, one of the most rewarded skills in OET Speaking. About 5 minutes.

Speaking role-play cards

Print a role-play and practise with a friend or colleague: a candidate card for you, a patient card for your partner, a feedback sheet with the nine criteria, and model answers.
